Design and Motifs: This exquisite 2'6 x 6 Persian Bijar Runner, also known as Bidjar, features an intricate floral design that embodies the rich heritage of Persian craftsmanship. The rug's vibrant pattern is dominated by a medallion motif surrounded by elaborate floral and vine patterns. The field of the rug showcases a harmonious blend of colors and motifs, including geometric shapes and curvilinear elements, which are traditional to the Bijar weaving style.

Patterns and Colors: The base color of this rug is a warm, creamy ivory, providing a striking contrast to the rich, bold hues that adorn it. The dominant colors include deep reds, midnight blues, vibrant greens, and soft golds. Each color is carefully chosen to enhance the intricate floral patterns and geometric motifs. The borders of the rug are accentuated with a combination of floral and geometric patterns, which frame the central design beautifully.

Materials and Craftsmanship: Hand-knotted with the utmost precision, this Persian Bijar Runner is crafted from high-quality wool, known for its durability and resilience. The rug's dense knotting and robust construction make it an ideal choice for high-traffic areas, ensuring it maintains its beauty for years to come. The meticulous craftsmanship is evident in the rug's fine details and the clarity of its patterns.

Heritage: Bijar rugs, often referred to as the "Iron Rugs of Persia," are renowned for their exceptional strength and longevity. Originating from the Kurdish town of Bijar in Iran, these rugs are known for their heavy, dense pile and the unique double-weft technique used in their construction. This method not only enhances the rug's durability but also allows for more intricate and detailed designs. Bijar rugs are highly sought after by collectors and connoisseurs for their artistic value and their ability to withstand the test of time.

Bijar (Bidjar) Rugs

Bijar rugs, hailing from the rugged landscapes of northwest Iran, are a testament to the resilience and artistry of the Kurdish weavers who create them. Unlike other Persian rugs, Bijar rugs utilize a distinctive weaving technique known as the "wet weaving" method, where the weft threads are dampened before being tightly packed. This results in an incredibly dense and sturdy rug that can endure generations of use. The designs of Bijar rugs are often inspired by the natural surroundings of the region, featuring floral motifs, intricate medallions, and geometric patterns that symbolize the harmony and balance found in nature. Each Bijar rug tells a story of cultural heritage, combining traditional techniques with artistic innovation, making them true masterpieces of Persian weaving.

The colors of this 2'6 x 6 Persian Bijar Runner are:

  1. Ivory: A creamy off-white background color that provides a light and neutral base.
  2. Red: A rich, deep red used prominently in the floral and vine motifs.
  3. Navy Blue: A dark blue hue that outlines many of the intricate patterns and adds depth.
  4. Light Blue: A softer blue shade used in the floral elements, adding contrast.
  5. Green: A subtle green found in some of the floral and vine details.
  6. Orange: A muted orange used in some of the floral patterns and borders.
  7. Pink: A light pink used sparingly within the floral motifs for added color variation.
  8. Brown: A dark brown that appears in the outlines and small pattern details.
  9. Beige: A soft beige found in the intricate detailing and borders.
